The Richard Haka 703W descant recorder is a lovely upgrade from a student recorder, it has excellent intonation and tuning. The design is based on refinements made by the great craftsman Richard Haka. The sound is refined, sonorous even, with a softer edge to its tone.
The instrument is of the standard 3 piece design, so it can be cleaned and maintained with little effort. It even comes with its own joint grease which makes assembling the instrument smooth and leaves no room for air leaks.
It has the standard soprano recorder range, from the C above middle C to the D two octaves above that and looks different to the norm with its nicely finished simulated wood grain and ivory trim.
Descant recorders are the most well-known models in the recorder family and are commonly used as first instruments in schools due to their relatively small finger spacing and ease of playing. They make for excellent ensemble instruments.
